Coming-of-age youth drama/Sportainment

One of the “2023 Best 7 Korean Theater Productions – Youth & Children’s Category”
Tank of Fire presents <The Autumn Wind Begins Beyond the Fence>, the scorching return of Korea’s hottest sportainment: the baseball play.

Everyone dreams of being the ace, but not everyone can be.
Set on the high school baseball field, this vibrant and emotionally charged play captures the magic of youth—where every player, ace or not, faces the hottest moment of their life.
It’s a joyful, touching story about dreams, growth, and the bittersweet beauty of letting go.

• Synopsis

In the legendary basketball manga <Slam Dunk>, there’s a character known only as “Glasses Senpai” — a perpetual benchwarmer named Kwon Junho.
And here at Taeyoung High School’s baseball team, there’s another benchwarmer with the same name: Kwon Junho.
After watching <Slam Dunk>, Junho becomes convinced that his name is cursed and abruptly quits the team.
His best friend, Park Sungho, seems to have it all — talent, luck, and the bright energy of an ace pitcher. Always smiling, always loud, Sungho appears carefree, but quietly wrestles with self-doubt and pressure. Behind the cheerful exterior, he too is growing up.
And then there’s Cho Hani.
With a name that brings to mind the iconic anime <Run, Hani>, she’s showered with high expectations from the P.E. teacher.
But in truth, Hani has no athletic talent — and hates sports more than anything.
To her, every P.E. class is just torture.
As the team heads into the final summer tournament of the year, a sudden injury forces Sungho to the bench.
To make up the numbers, Junho is reluctantly brought back to the roster.
He’s sent to the plate as a designated hitter in a regional match.
His coach gives him just one instruction:
“Don’t swing. Just stand there.”
Is this how it ends? As a pathetic benchwarmer whose only role is to wait for a walk?
Then, from behind the fence, Sungho and Hani’s voices ring out in support.
Junho grips the bat.
Swing, or don’t swing?

In that moment—the wind begins to blow.
The autumn wind begins beyond the fence.
