· About the Performance
Traditional Korean Outdoor Theater
This performance is a creative Korean traditional music (gugak) madanggeuk concert based on the folktales of Yulgok Yi I, a prominent historical figure from Gangneung.
Centered around a chestnut tree, the story unfolds through the lyrical sounds of gugak and engaging theatrical expression, allowing the audience to connect closely with the performers. The stage comes alive with a rich blend of traditional Korean arts, including music, dance, and drama.
• Synopsis
A thousand-year-old tiger chases a band of quirky chestnut-tree goblins all the way to Ojukheon.
These goblins, known for being troublemakers, are giving the tiger quite the headache.
But when they finally reveal themselves, they say they came to Ojukhe because they want to make human friends—just like ‘Hyunryong’, the wise and brave child who was born there 500 years ago.
